My mother-in-law (soon to be with the Lord) is resting comfortably listening to a recording of my father-in-law (already with the Lord) singing in a gospel quartet: “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me home…..” Of course, my father-in-law Tom had no clue when he sang this song that it would help sing his wife into the church triumphant. We are always held between the present and the promise. The veil, although one way, is so thin. And the line between doubt and faith is so fine (Thomas the disciple knows). Because if there were no room for doubt, there would also be no need for faith.
