The woman of Samaria who by a well on a hot summer day discusses with Jesus the meaning of living water has got to be one of my favorite stories in the New Testament. It’s finally on for this Sunday the 14th, and on my morning walks with Chester I am relearning it by heart. The conversation between the Jesus and the woman holds sarcasm, history, prejudice, misunderstanding, theological debate, curiosity, vulnerability, and an amazing self-revelation by Jesus of who he is. She’s pretty amazing herself. I wish we knew her name. Any suggestions of what to call her? The story is in John 4.
