I haven’t seen Avatar yet—too much going on. But I love the idea of 3-D and am curious. When I go to movies though, I like to ponder the characters and listen for what is being said underneath a good story.
That’s why I was intrigued today by what Kelvin Wright, Anglican Bishop of Dunedin, New Zealand, wrote in his blog, Available Light. If you have seen the movie, I’d like to hear what you think, especially about stereotyping too easily and about the irony of the viewer being part of the problem.

Hi Elaine,
I did see it a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it. An absolute feast for the eyes. Worth going to the 3D show. In terms of storyline, I agree that it’s not really anything new but then again, how many different themes are there really out there.
Appreciated reading the Wright review though I think, sometimes, we make ourselves a little crazy with all the political stuff. But yes, consumerism is out of control.
Here’s a link to review that I much appreciated:

I think you’d enjoy the experience. Sometimes, it just feels good to see some beauty.

PS. At the theater I was at, they recycled the 3D glasses.
