“Steadfast love and faithfulness have met each other;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” Psalm 85:10
There is a love affair going on between steadfast love, faithfulness, righteousness (also known as justice) and peace…a love affair that exists in God’s presence. Hopefully these are found in some measure in our most intimate love and family relationships as well. Hopefully these are found in our friendships. Hopefully these are found in our congregational relationships. However, in many aspects of our lives we walk through much brokenness on our way to this vision of unity. That doesn’t mean these lovely gifts are not in God’s plan. That doesn’t mean it is not God’s hope for our future and the world’s future. We are learning to live into them as we follow Christ. Which gift is God growing in you at the moment: steadfast love, faithfulness, righteousness-justice, or peace?
Suggestions:
1. Take this verse with you and ponder its meaning for you throughout the day. What do you notice? What do you wonder? In what situation is God growing love, faithfulness, righteousness-justice, or peace in you?
2. Or read all of Psalm 85 to discover how this verse fits into this psalm.
3. Or comment with a photo of your own that is a window of this verse’s meaning for you.
Tomorrow’s psalm will be Psalm 86:11.
Starting January 1, 2016, for 150 days I am posting a daily psalm verse with a photo that is a visual meditation on the text for me. Each day a verse from the next psalm is chosen until all 150 psalms have been featured. To participate you may subscribe to my blog at https://elainedent.net or “friend” me on Facebook and watch for the daily links to blog posts. Disclaimer: I am not a photographer and most of the photos are from a cell phone or small camera while hiking the Appalachian Trail or the C&O Canal/Great Allegheny Passage Trail.
