Evening Prayer in Solidarity with the People of Standing Rock

Today I am joining in prayer with other clergy in solidarity with the people of Standing Rock. Throughout the day I will post what I am praying.

"Let my prayer rise before you as incense; the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice." Psalm 141:2

Evening prayer

For those of us who cannot claim to be Native American—

that we learn from their witness;

that we grow in our advocacy for and stewardship of

the earth in our communities;

that we use all our ingenuity, intelligence and creativity

to find ways to live that are sustainable

for our children and grandchildren;

that we honor one another above our greed;

that we listen to people who have historically been ignored;

that we grow to delight in your creation and

raise our grateful voices in praise to you as the Standing Rock peoples have

raised their grateful cries at the sight of the buffalo this week.

Lord, in you mercy, hear our prayer.
